on whether this procedure was worth your time to download.
1. The purpose of the procedure is to aid the Red Ryder user in making a user menu customized to his/her own liking. The method in which I have done this procedure requires the you need not know how to program in the Red Ryder language. The only requirement is that you know how to initiate the procedure and compile the procedure that Menu Maker develops.
2. If you are running under Multifinder be aware that Menu Maker creates a temporary file in the same folder as the new menu procedure you want to create. This temporary file is deleted upon the termination of the Menu Maker procedure.
3. Once you run the procedure you will notice that I did not let you customize the attributes of the Menu Title. I am fully capable of adding such dialogs to accomplish that if there is a demand. If you must have the Menu Title with such styles as BOLD, OUTLINED, etc... include the characters <B,<O, respectivly after the Menu Titles name either in the dialog or by editing the resulting procedure that is created with Menu Maker. Read page 119 of the Red Ryder manual for further information.
4. When you enter the Menu Choice names, please don't include the special control characters which I mentioned above for the Menu Title. There is a separate dialog where you can set these attributes. There may be unexpected results if you include the special control characters and set the dialog checkboxes.
5. I tried to include as much flexibility and functionality in Menu Maker as possible. It is up to you the user to report any changes or problems/complaints you may have.
USAGE:
1. Upon starting up Menu Maker 2.0 you will encounter a start-up screen. It will tell you that the next screen in the sequence is where you enter the name of the menu file you will be creating.
2. Type in the name and select the destination to save your newly named procedure.
3. Next there will be a large dialog in which you enter the Menu Title (which has a default of User) and each menu choice you want from one to twenty choices. If no menu choices are entered then Menu Maker returns to the Data Entry screen. The CANCEL button will terminate your current session with Menu Maker. REMEMBER: Use the TAB key to goto the next field to enter data and the RETURN button to end the dialog with OK. Also, the first blank menu choice that Menu Maker finds in the dialog signals that is the end of the menu choices so that means that you can not have any blank menu choices unless you edit the final procedure or use spaces. But why I ask????
4. The next screen will let you select a radiobutton which describes the action of the highlighted menu choice as well as setting the attributes. There is a button in this screen that lets you select a procedure file. Unlike the previous version of Menu Maker where it brought up an extra screen. This implementation is much better.
5. After each menu choice is processed, Menu Maker will ask you if you want to compile the new menu file being created. If you don't want to compile, Menu Maker terminates. Otherwise a compile screen comes up.
6. If you are compiling, Menu Maker reaches into Red Ryders resource to see your current settings for compiling and sets them to the default. If you change these settings, they will also be changed in the Red Ryder resource file. The other option that is available is whether you want to initiate the compiled procedure when done compiling. By using this feature, you can test out your new menu instantly. I call this instant pleasure!
7. Any errors that happen, Menu Maker will try to tell you about.
Menu Maker is done when you see the screen that says Menu Maker quitting.
